Peyton Place was a popular American primetime soap opera that aired on ABC from September 15, 1964, to June 2, 1969. The series was based on the 1956 novel of the same name by Grace Metalious and was set in the fictional New England town of Peyton Place.
The cast of Peyton Place included Mia Farrow as the popular and troubled high school student, Allison MacKenzie, who was at the center of the show's many dramas and scandals. Ryan O'Neal played Allison's childhood friend turned love interest, Rodney Harrington.
Other notable cast members included Barbara Parkins as Allison's half-sister, Betty Anderson; Dorothy Malone as the manipulative and scheming Constance MacKenzie; and Ed Nelson as Dr. Michael Rossi, a key figure in the medical and legal issues that arise in the town.
The show also featured future stars such as Leslie Nielsen, Lee Grant, and Gena Rowlands in recurring roles. Peyton Place was one of the first primetime soap operas and paved the way for later shows like Dallas and Dynasty.
